Meet the Founder

Marina Orlova

Founder of RuTerra — Russian as a Foreign Language Studio

Russian language educator · EdTech specialist · Program designer

I am a native Russian speaker, born in Pskov, with higher pedagogical education and 20 years of experience teaching languages — Russian, English and German.

For more than 10 years, I have worked in international EdTech, specializing in designing and implementing business language learning and communication training programs.

Over the years, we have designed and organized immersive Russian-language programs for learners from:

Germany USA Canada Ireland Australia Brazil Netherlands

at levels A1 to C2.

What I have learned from all these experiences is simple: The fastest way to improve a language is to start using it for real. Even if you don't feel ready yet.

This is the idea behind RuTerra.

We combine:
personalized learning program + professional immersion + local connections + cultural experience
to create something much more personal than a language course.
A Russian experience designed around you.

Learner Stories

"Privet! I went to Pskov and participated in the Ru Terra Russian Language course for one week. I had an opportunity to practice my Russian all the time while living with a lovely family. The lessons I had were really interesting and stimulating :) Thanks to Marina for providing such a fantastic course at such a good price!!"

Eleanor Ireland

"The lessons in Pskov were very clear, helping me to remember Grammar rules and extend my vocabulary of the Russian words, motivating me to focus more on learning the Russian language. The teachers have shining personalities, and they are professional and very patient, explaining all the ambiguities and unclear words."

Carola The Netherlands

"I’ve just finished a three-week intensive Russian course at RuTerra in Pskov and can say that I am very happy with my progress and experience. I’ve not attended another such course before, so can’t compare, but what I can say is I really appreciated the level of professionalism from all the teachers, who clearly know their way around the Russian language and are interested in the topic. Lessons are laid back, meaning we could keep going whenever we wanted, as well as take a breather when all that Russian gets a bit heavy. Marina chose for us a really interesting and relevant course book for our level, mixed with activities from other sources and even trips out. I think I rarely spent an evening alone during my entire 3 weeks in Pskov. I felt like a regular Pskovich (the person who lives in Pskov) by the end, and was even showing a friend from Moscow around town. Marina was invaluable for her role as chief organiser, and even when minor disasters struck (missed buses in Riga, problems with visas), she takes it in her stride so if you’re feeling a bit nervous, you’re in caring hands indeed. Thank you!"
